The cost of racism for all of us is very expensive.  Fighting to eradicate the evil of racism is even more expensive.  In most cases the culprits, corrupt government officials and their employees, have unlimited tax revenue (your tax dollars and mine) to dump into litigation and attorneys who fight to maintain racist customs. 

On the other hand, those individuals who are courageous enough to challenge public officials who put their own self interests above the law and the rights of their constituents have to rely on limited personal resources.
