The Civil Action

This civil action, filed on July 13, 2009, seeking equitable relief, injunctive relief, compensatory damages, and punitive damages, is brought by Jacqueline Patterson Edwards against Bill Hubbard and officials of St. John The Baptist Parish, all of whom, and at all times herein, acted willfully to deprive or conspired to deprive Jacqueline Patterson Edwards of rights protected by the U.S. Constitution and the laws of the State of Louisiana.

As a direct consequence of the corrupt, illegal, and racially discriminatory treatment of Jacqueline Patterson Edwards, and other similarly situated African Americans, this civil action seeks to vindicate rights as guaranteed by the Fair Housing Act;  the Civil Rights Act of 1964; the Civil Rights Act of 1871; the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution, the Assembly Clause of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution and the Takings Clause of the 5th Amendment of the United States Constitution.
